The Teacher
The Teacher is a Secret melee unit from the Renaissance faction. They are equipped with the Teacher Sword. |
Location
Go to the Ancient 2 and zoom in on the city just to the right of the red-blue divider line, one higher than the bottom temples. Look for a building with an open rooftop and a thinker statue inside. A sword should be laying on the statue's pedestal, right in front of the statue. Move the camera close to the sword and wait as it glows and then pops. |
Characteristics
The Teacher is a skillful swordsman with the ability to parry or dodge incoming melee attacks. They will always parry when possible, and dodge if it is unfeasible or risky to only parry. Certain weapons are much easier to parry before the Teacher gets overwhelmed. As skillful as the Teacher is, some parryable attacks may be too fast or well-aimed to ward off completely. Their reaction speed may also prove slow at times to dodge incoming attacks.
Unlike other units who charge blindly, the Teacher will maintain a good distance, avoid their adversary's attack and strike when the opportunity arises. This approach plays it safe, but makes the Teacher unable to fight back effectively if their adversary's weapons are unparryable, undodgeable or simply has a long attack range. This also makes them utterly useless against ranged units as the distance they insist on maintaining is just beyond their sword's reach.
Appearance
This unit is a Wobbler with a long renaissance looking hair with a triangular beard (Similar to portraits of Shakespeare). They wear renaissance garments including a jacket with a large square jabot and dark pants with little black shoes. They wield a sword similar to that of a Spadroon, a fancy one handed blade.

Usage
This unit should be used as a part of an army due to its low cost. It is effective at dealing with weaker units (like Clubbers) and also at distracting and holding off units, thanks to its blocking and parry abilities. The blocking ability does not have any cooldown.
Their rather average HP and slow attack speed makes it lackluster in comparison to other melee specialists like Chieftain for example. It shouldn't be underestimated though due to what it is capable of, as a single Teacher can take on up to 10 Squires single handedly, as long as it's not surrounded on all sides.

Trivia
- The Teacher is among the only three units that can parry, the others are: Pirate Queen and Captain.
- Dodging will reduce their weapon's cooldown period to half a second.
- The Teacher can parry the Skeleton Giant's sword, even though it is much larger than their Spadroon.
- When possessing the teacher, it is not possible to parry any attacks except the last unit parried by the teacher before possessing them.
- This still applies even after the enemy unit is dead.
- The Teacher used to share the same voice as the Squire.
- Even though The Teacher was given a new weapon in an update, their Unit Icon still has the image of their old weapon.
- During the Legacy update, there was a bug where the teacher had no shoes.
- Despite being found on Ancient 2, The Teacher cannot be defined as an Ancient unit, because its sword and outfit are anachronistic to Antiquity and is a Renaissance-themed Secret unit.
- Interestingly, the unit came out before the Renaissance faction came out.
- The Teacher's ability of parrying is probably reused from the previous version of TABS, which would allow all units to block and parry.
- It has the hair of the Ballooner and the beard of the Apple Thrower.
- It used to cost 300 at some point.
