Peasant (Alpha)
The Peasant (Alpha) is a melee unit from the Misc faction. They are equipped with nothing but their fists. |
Characteristics
The Peasant is the most basic Unit in the Pre-Alpha up until the Closed Alpha, but was since removed until it made its reappearance as a Legacy Unit in Early Access 0.12.0. It was one of the best spam Units due to its very low price and ability to overwhelm most units.
Appearance
The Peasant is the most basic Unit, having no clothes or weapons whatsoever.
Tactics
Cannon Fodder
A good tactic with the Peasant is to use them as cannon fodder, to attract the opposing side towards the bulk of your army, to group them together, or to simple distract them. This coupled with Units great at crowd control, such as the Catapult or the M16 makes a really effective strategy.
Overpowering Units
The Peasant is one of the best Units to use for overpowering enemy Units, and are surprisingly effective in mass. They can soak up hits and mow down anything in their path. However, AoE (Area of Effect) Units are very effective at taking out chunks of your army, however spreading your army out should make it so that less of your army will get taken out. Units with rapid-fire attacks, such as the Ninja Master or Trump, and Units with more health, such as the Axe or Energy Sword Master, can also be very effective at taking down an army of Peasants.
Usage
The Peasant is a good Unit to use to distract Catapults and Ballistae, letting other, faster Units rush in and defeat them. In levels that give the player a lot of money, spamming Peasants usually causes severe lag and may take a long time to finish. However, due to the amount of Peasants on the battlefield, they are able to overwhelm the enemy team with ease, providing there are no AoE Units, or any other Units capable of taking down large groups. They can also break up the enemies' formation if you put 1-3 Peasants in front of your main force as cannon fodder.
Trivia
- The Peasant's name was originally misspelled as "Peasent", however this was changed in the Pre-Alpha update.
- "Peasant Army" is a term generally used when a large group of Peasants are spawned.
- Although not an ideal strategy, spawning mass armies of Peasants on both lower-end and decent devices can be an easy way to beat most of the Levels in the game. The mass army causes severe lag, causing ranged units to have terrible aim. The Peasants will eventually overwhelm the opposing force, however take longer against stronger Units. This tactic is especially effective against Muskets.
- Large hordes of Peasants are commonly known as "Zombie Hordes".
