Medieval Bow
The Medieval Bow is a ranged weapon from the Medieval faction. It is used by the Archer.
Characteristics
The Medieval Bow is a basic ranged weapon used by the Archer. It has great range and high damage, making it a good all-around ranged weapon until the introduction of firearms.
Appearance
The Medieval Bow appears to be a stereotypical medieval longbow, a somewhat curved wooden stick with its ends held fast by a single thin yet strong thread, with a wrap for the grip. The arrow it fires consists of a brown wooden rod, with a sharp, dark grey arrowhead and team-colored fletching attached to the back.
History
The longbow was created by the Celts in Wales in 1180 C.E, but not used by the English military up until the 14th Century. It played a key role for the English in the 100 Years' War as a long ranged weapon, as it was also more accurate than the crossbows used by the French. The arrows from a longbow could kill a soldier at 100 yards and wound one at 250 yards.
Trivia
- It is debated whether a skilled archer with a longbow could fire 12 arrows a minute (1 arrow every 5 seconds) or 24 arrows in one minute. (1 arrow every 2.5 seconds)
