Fan Shield
The Fan Shield is a melee weapon from Misc. It is not used by any unit and is found only in the Unit Creator.
Characteristics
The Fan Shield is a wooden shield with a big rotating fan attached to it, creating a breeze that will stall or even blow away light units in one direction. This can help in pushing to the enemy's backlines much easier without the interruptance of light fodder. Not all can be blown away though. In addition to weight, units with shields will be much resistant against the breeze. Some units, particularly ranged units will also have a higher grip on the ground, making them immune to the breeze.
Otherwise, the Fan Shield acts like the average shield, having a big surface area to block projectiles and protect the user from incoming melee attacks. It is still vulnerable to powerful projectiles such as ballista bolts as well as piercing projectiles such as the bullets fired from a Musket.
Units using the Fan Shield will approach their opponents with it, and will attack them with it when they get too close. Unlike most shields, each attack with the weapon will regularly deal no damage at all. Though occasionally, it may inflict a small amount of damage. Instead, each attack will blow out a gust of wind, giving their opponents a shove. This will also make ranged units lose their grip and make them susceptible to the fan's constant breeze. Having a shorter cooldown than most melee weapons, it can quickly give a quick shove to units who are approaching too close.
Trivia
- As the Fan Shield's breeze is passive, it will affect enemy units even in placement mode.
- Units are stuck in the x and z axis during placement, so there is no worry of units getting blown away before the battle starts.
