Mammoth
The Mammoth is the boss unit from the Tribal faction. They are equipped with giant tusks and stompy legs. |
Characteristics
The Mammoth is an exceptionally tough and moderately powerful unit. Armed with their two grand tusks, they will charge at enemy units and trample anyone who comes close. They have exceptionally high health that allows them to take on lots of punishment and massive size with somewhat fast movement speed. They also can take more damage to their face compared to the rest of their body. With such toughness, the Mammoth is incredibly expensive. In combat, the biggest strength of the Mammoth is their size, as them walking alone will cause the ground to shake, and anyone who comes close to them will get stunned and trampled by the shear shockwave of the walking Mammoth. Although their trample deals low damage, the cumulative area of effect makes it moderately high in output. When engaging, the Mammoth will charge at the enemy units at near close range, ramming through formations of puny units and sending them into the air, all the while trampling those who comes close. They will continue to charge and occasionally headbutt those who still continue to pester them. However, their size is also their biggest weakness, as it makes them a much bigger target and prone to getting stuck at tight Corridors. The Mammoth's trample also becomes ineffective the bigger the enemy unit is.

Appearance
The Mammoth is a prehistoric beast of massive size with two grand protruding tusks that slightly curves back at their front. They are quadrupedal mammals, with massive and stubby legs. They are covered in thick brown hair along with a majestic wood-brown mane. They have a big round belly and a skinny and fluffy tail at their rear. Their head has a long proboscis below their two googly eyes called a trunk, along with a pair of small flappy ears. The Mammoth is painted in many parts of their body to distinguish from Red or Blue; their legs painted with stripes and dots, their tusk painted at the end followed by a stripe and a marking on their face from the forehead to the trunk.
Unit Voice
Usage
The Mammoth can be used as a strong melee unit for crowd control, and using large amounts of Mammoths can destroy an army of weak units such as Peasants easily. Despite its slow attack speed, the mere trample will cause damage to enemies. It works best against regular infantry units, though the Mammoth is still vulnerable to artillery, large concentrated amounts of damage, or even massed heavy units and missiles, as its slow walking and attack speed gives enemies the opportunity to strike back. It also has a charge attack which makes quick work of most armies. Avoid using it against units like the Jarl, the King, etc, as they can take several hits from the Mammoth and kill it.
Encounters
As the first boss unit, The Mammoth is treated as so; with them being the tanks of a tribal army. They also tend to appear in herds, demonstrating how destructive (or obstructive) a parade of Mammoths can be. Although common in the early campaigns, they are almost non-existent in the faction showcase campaigns.

Trivia
- The Mammoth only takes half the damage on attacks on their face, 0.7 times the damage on their trunk and 0.8 times the damage on their legs.
- It was the first non-horse animal to be created for the entire game.
- As of the Spooky Update, there seems to be a bug where multiple Mammoths will spawn stacked on top of each other when trying to spawn one, that said Mammoths will glitch out a bit (or a bunch) when doing so.
- This has been patched.
- The bug is now a "feature" in the Bug DLC.
- This has been patched.
- As of the Bug DLC, you can enable "Mammoth Pillars" that make the Mammoths be able to stack on top of each other by using the bug of the same name by tapping on an area. Holding it can make it go further into the sky, and can reach so far, that even the camera can't reach.
- After dying, the Mammoth's corpse will freeze and slowly sink into the ground. This trait is shared with snakes shot by Snake Archer, Wheelbarrow and Wheelbarrow Dragon, crows, Catapult, Ballista, Longship, Dragon, Hwacha, Da Vinci Tank, Cannon and Bomb Cannon, Pumpkin Catapult, the vault thrown by the Bank Robbers, Gatling Gun, the clams summoned by CLAMS, horses, Chariot, Tank, Ice Giant, Sacred Elephant, and units that were frozen to death (i.e. by Ice Archer or Ullr).
- The markings on its face and legs are smooth, while the markings on its tusks are low poly like the rest of the game.
- Previously, this was not the case.
- The Mammoth's hair has visible smooth surfaces inside of it, contrasting with the low poly style the rest of it has.
- The markings on its legs somewhat resemble the leg bands the Sacred Elephant wears.
- The Mammoth will still take damage even if projectiles hit their tusks.
- The Mammoth's tusks size can be changed via the randomizer that effects all units.
- The Mammoth that appears on Ancient 2 is the 2.0 animation model for the mammoth.
- As of the unit Creator update, the Mammoth will make crunching noises when its tusks ram into an enemy unit.
- It used to cost 2240 at the time of its initial release.
