Healer
The Healer is a support unit from the Medieval faction. They are equipped with the Priest Staff. |
Characteristics
The Healer (formerly known as the Priest) is the first healing unit in TABS. When healing, the Healer releases a gold beam onto the nearest and most endurant unit. They are pacifists, and won't attack, and they will remain still if there are no teammates. With no armor or dodging skills, they are very vulnerable, be sure to have a unit that can protect them.
Appearance
The Healer appears as an old Wobbler holding a staff with a Globus Cruciger on the top and wearing a priest robe decorated with two crossed bands and having the tonsure. When the Healer heals, a golden beam connects to the unit the healer is curing, turning them gold for a moment, then they will go back to their original color.

Usage
The Healer is best used to keep a certain unit alive, instead of keeping everyone alive. By default, Healers will look for the strongest unit on their team and follow them around to continuously remedy them. It's a good idea to use it with strong units or bosses, like a King, Jarl, Knight, or even an Ice Giant. However this unit doesn't have much health, and once other units are dead it cannot defend itself, so it's best to focus on protecting it. The healer can actually kill weak units if they go up next to the healers due to them raising it rapidly.
Trivia
- The Healer was originally called the Priest.
- Its name was likely changed due to confusion about the unit's use.
- The Healer is the first Unit that can heal in the game, the second being Solar Architect.
- Technically it is the second unit with a healing mechanic as the Priest was the first healing unit.
- In the video showcasing the Healer, there is a cameo appearance of a Wheelbarrow in the background.
- When they were first revealed, they healed all friendly units in an area, rather than one single unit like they do now.
- In the video that was showcasing the Healer, it was wearing a pope-like hat and had a cross instead of a ball.
- When possessed in first person mode, it can heal anyone, be it enemy or ally. It also has infinite range, being able to use its heal beam from one end to the other end of the Simulation map.
- It can actually deal damage, though it won't attack. If its staff hits someone while in the healing animation, it does damage.
- Sometimes a unit will remain gold even after it is dead or the Healer is dead.
- One update added new voice sound effects to the Healer, just like a lot of the other units.
- The Healer can now cancel Cupid's "lust" effect.
- If there are no other units to heal, a group of these units will remedy each other. If there are no other units at all they will just stand there.
- If the Healer is paired with the Cheerleader, they will cancel out each other's effects.
- In Development Clips #3, Landfall showcased Inverted Healing, where the healers used harming beams on enemies.
- The healer has the second lowest health of any unit in the game (25) (with the lowest being the Cheerleader (5)
