Captain
The Captain is a melee unit from the Pirate faction. They are equipped with the Captain's Cutlass, the Flintlock Blunderbuss and the Pirate Kick. |
Characteristics
The Captain is the mini boss of the Pirate Faction. They are big and tough, wielding a Cutlass and their powerful Dragon Pistol. In battle, the Captain will charge in, blasting enemy units with their Pistol, and will hack slash their way through enemy lines. As a more reactive sword wielded, they can parry with their Cutlass, and will additionally kick enemy units in melee combat.
Appearance
The Pirate Captain wears a long, team-colored coat with a shirt under it and a cloth around the shirt. They also have beige pants, black boots, a long, brown beard with a moustache, a black hat with a painted skull and crossbones, and two parrots. It uses a Cutlass and a Dragon Pistol.
Unit Voice
Usage
The Pirate Captain specializes against single or small groups of enemy melee damage. This is because of its high damage, which kills them very quickly, high knockback from the pistol that holds them back, and parries that nullify damage. However, its relatively low health for its cost makes them vulnerable to swarms of melee units and especially ranged units. The Pirate Captain is more powerful on maps where it can knock enemies into water, like Medieval 1, Pirate , etc. It is notable that despite it being better against single targets, it only wins a one-v-one with the King half the time, while losing to the Jarl a majority of the time due to the latter's Enrage.
Trivia
- The Pirate Captain is the one of the few units that uses a melee weapon and ranged weapon at the same time.
- When the Captain dies, the parrots on its head die too.
- The Pirate Captain's gun is absurdly strong. It has very high damage, knockback, and short reload. This makes them, especially when using First Person, a reliable option when available.
- It is currently one of the only units who can parry, the other being Pirate Queen and The Teacher.
- When possessing a Captain, attempting to use their kick ability on an enemy while it's still charging will make them "dodge" like The Teacher instead. This is possible because the Captain is supposed to be able to parry/dodge strikes like The Teacher, but there isn't a button to do so while possessing it. This is thought to be a bug.
- The pirate Captain's gun can throw an enemy unit across the map if aimed right.
- One-v-one, the Captain can sometimes defeat the Pirate Queen, but you can defeat them with far more ease by possessing the former.
- When possessed, the Captain can stop cannonballs (Even Da Vinci Tank Cannonballs and Bomb Cannonballs) by attacking them with its dragon pistol.
- The first level the captain appears in is A Rival Captain.
- If you time it, (possessed) you can launch the unit meters away with the dragon pistol.
- In rare occasions, a Raptor can defeat a Captain if the latter misses all their strikes and shots.
- The Captain is one of few units who use the movement option NeverStopRunning. Others being the Tank and Flintlock.
