Ice Giant
The Ice Giant is a Secret melee unit from the Viking faction. They are equipped with Ice Giant Punches. |
Location
The Ice Giant cannot be used in Sandbox or the campaign until it is found because it is a secret unit. The player should go to Viking(or play a campaign level set in Viking). Somewhere in a group of trees near the bottom of the blue side of the map, it can be found slumbering mostly underground. it is buried underneath a tree, but there is a nearby landmark of a large square stone with spikes on top. You must look at it until it starts glowing and eventually bursts. When it bursts, it will be unlocked. |
Characteristics
The Ice Giant is a colossal titan with terrifically long arms. While lumber and clumsy, its long arms are very powerful, able to create shockwaves of ice with each punch that connects with a surface. They can also blow a cold breeze, freezing units. Along with its high health, the Ice Giant is the largest unit in the game and the "boss" of the Secret faction.
Appearance
The Nordic Ice Giant looks like a huge humanoid, ape-like creature, distinct from giant Wobblers, covered in snow on its head, shoulders, arms, and torso. It has a very muscular build with a small waist and giant long arms relative to size. As it is a Viking faction secret unit, it wears a belt that has a couple of Brawler shields hanging on the sides. It has an icicle symbol on its belt rather than a Landfall logo, which may be to signify its greater power than the other Viking units.
Unit Voice
Usage
Before the Legacy update, the Ice Giant was the strongest unit in the game, having extraordinarily high health and damage. Countering the Ice Giant can be very difficult; it can be killed with two Hwacha volleys or other artillery blasts, so consider backing up the Ice Giant with fast-attack units such as the Valkyrie to take out back-line artillery. Sometimes it can be taken out by a Shogun, Tree Giant, and other secret units.
As of the Unit Creator update, it has an ice breath attack, similar to the Dragon's fire breath. Rather than burn units, however, it freezes them over time, making it the most powerful freezing unit in the game.
Trivia
- The Ice Giant is based on Frost Giants, or Jötunn.
- It used to be the second most expensive unit in the game, costing 6000 (The same price as the Tank). Before the Legacy update, Artemis was the only unit that was more expensive.
- Now it is the fourth most expensive unit in the game, after the Super Boxer (3rd most expensive) and the Dark Peasant and Super Peasant, the two power-peasants being tied, with both costing 9,999,999.
- It used to be tankiest unit in the game, but as of the Legacy update it has now been superseded by the Super Peasant (132,250) and the Dark Peasant (1,322,500.)
- It is the tallest unit in the game.
- It was originally supposed to be the boss of the Viking Faction, but it was moved to the Secret Faction because of how powerful the unit was.
- The symbol on their belt could indicate its independence, dominance and superiority from the Viking Faction.
- It will win most of the time in a 1v1 against Artemis.
- Prior to 1.0, the Ice Giant was the only secret unit that appeared on the main menu screen, this has since changed so other secret units appear (examples being Artemis, Necromancer and Lady Red Jade).
- The Ice Giant has the ability to attract enemy units towards it similar to the Bard, which makes them useful as a good distraction; while it is quite expensive, it is just as effective, since it has the highest health after Super Peasant and Dark Peasant.
- It loses most of the time to the Tree Giant, but if they successfully land 4 giant punches on it, they can defeat the Tree Giant.
- They can frequently defeat the Super Boxer, as long as it successfully lands 4 hits on them.
- Because that the Valkyries are flying, it can't hit them (or it is hard for them to, at least) so they will make a good distraction for it, and they may kill it as an additional bonus.
- The Ice Giant is actually the second heaviest unit in the game, just after the Dark Peasant.
- Despite killing them in mythology, Thor can’t beat an Ice giant in TABS.
- A large group of Ice Giants (roughly 250) can defeat the Dark Peasant by making it kill itself with its own projectiles, However that would be very laggy.
