Shield (Alpha)
Overview
The Shield is a melee unit belonging to the Ancient Faction. Its main purpose is to block enemy projectiles and attacks, and help its army charge to the frontlines.
Appearance
The Shield is either a red or blue Peasant wearing a roman legionnaire helmet. With both hands, it holds a scutum (Roman shield) with a little spike in the center.
Usage
The Shield's main purpose is to block enemy hits (mainly projectiles) and help its army charge to the frontlines. The Shield can also attack but it does low damage per hit but the units in tabs follow physics and collateral damage making it so that if 2 shields crush a unit in between them or smash a unit into a wall they can do devastating damage. The Shield can also push back units when attacking and while doing so, cause some damage at the same time. Shields do a great job at defending their army from the enemy. Shields are able to block arrows, spears, shurikens, envelopes, and ballista arrows. but spears can sometimes pin shields. Shields are also large and slow which makes them vulnerable to musket fire and siege weapons. It's also important to know that sometimes projectiles can glitch through the shield and end up killing the unit itself. Shields are totally useless against, Ballistas, Muskets, Super Peasants, Dark Peasants, and most of the Neon units. When behind another shield, it's formation bonus will activate and it will lift it's shield above its head. It should be noted that shields will often break formation upon reaching the enemy, potentially exposing units behind it.
