Pumpkin Catapult
The Pumpkin Catapult is an artillery unit from the Spooky faction. They are equipped with Pumpkins. |
Characteristics
The Pumpkin Catapult is the Spooky faction's artillery. As it's name suggests, it is a variant of the normal Catapult, with bones and bouncy jack o' lanterns as the payload. It is operated by a Pumpkin Catapult Operator.
Appearance
The Pumpkin Catapult looks similar to the Medieval counterpart, the Catapult, being a large four-wheeled mechanism with a small operator at the back end.
The major difference between the two is that the Pumpkin Catapult is predominantly black with bones, and throws Pumpkins instead of boulders. The operator has been replaced by a skeleton and the boulder holder for a rib cage.
Team distinction comes in the form of small banners at both sides of the catapult itself, with the skeleton operator also clad in a tattered clothing of the appropriate team color.

Usage
The Pumpkin Catapult performs a similar role to the regular Catapult, being a very long ranged unit that specializes in taking out dense groups of enemies.
The major distinguishing factor between both units is how their projectiles behave. The pumpkin thrown is very bouncy, and will bounce multiple times before disappearing, causing an explosion to occur every time it touches the terrain.
This can have some drawbacks, such as bounding over enemies that were not hit by the initial impact like how the Catapult can. It also tends to throw its projectile with less horizontal speed and a greater arc, making it significantly worse in comparison against single large enemies.
The strength of Pumpkin Catapult comes when using it to crash against multiple surfaces in quick succession, such as towards a rising incline or at a wall, since multiple contacts will inflict more explosive damage than a single straight shot could. While most main maps are quite flat, there are some niche applications such as firing into the cave in Tribal 2, the staircases of Renaissance, or several maps from the Simulation series.
Like the Medieval faction's Catapult, it is recommended not to use a swarm of units as an offensive front against the enemy team, as the splash inflicted by the Pumpkin Catapult can lead to many cases of friendly fire.
Trivia
- It is shown on a gif along with the Candle Mage, Skeleton Pirate (Now Skeleton Warrior), and Reaper.
- The pumpkins do less damage than a Catapult, which makes sense, since a rock is stronger than a pumpkin.
- The pumpkin will still have the rock bounce animation sign.
- As of version 0.12, the Dark Pumpkin Catapult cannot deflect the pumpkins unlike the catapult.
- In 1v1s , the Pumpkin Catapult would miss the enemy for some reason even though it is right in front of them
- The Pumpkin Catapult Operator wears a helmet similar to what Prussian and German officers would wear in the 18th and 19th centuries albeit without any designs. It was called the Pickelhaube.
