Minotaur
The Minotaur is a melee unit from the Ancient faction. They are equipped with Minotaur Grabs. |
Characteristics
The Minotaur (known as Asterion in Crete and Θevrumineś in Etruscan) is a tank and good formation disruptor in the Ancient faction. It attacks by charging at its opponents, punching them, and grabbing them. If hit with a projectile, it will charge sooner. It also has a headbutt ability like the Headbutter. It is the "Mini-boss" of the Ancient Faction.
Appearance
The Minotaur is a brown, anthropomorphic bull with a small tail, white horns, chest hair a brown belt-like sash with a patterned iron belt, and a patterned right shoulder pad. The color of the Minotaur's belt and its shoulder pad changes color depending on what team it's on. The patterns on the belt and shoulder pad change to a lighter color as well.
Unit Voice
Usage
The Minotaur can be used as a tank unit that can also disrupt enemy formations due to its size and damage. It can also be used as a high damage unit. It is powerful and can wipe out a horde of weak units with ease, and its charge is quite powerful. Its attacks deal a good amount of damage.
Moreover, the Minotaur Charge can actually function as a way to get behind Units or even dodge projectiles, and you don't even need to possess the Minotaur for it to (accidentally) dash behind a Unit and [usually] make quick work of them. This can, however, be a problem in the campaign, as this makes the Minotaur extremely unpredictable when against them; when taking this into account, far away ranged Units (really far away ones at that) are recommended.
Trivia
- The Minotaur is based off the creature of the same name from the Greek mythology. Born due to a curse put on the Queen of Minos that she would fall in love with a bull, they would often wander the Labyrinth that King Minos locked it in, and was said to cause the earthquakes.
- It's the 2nd known unit to be able to grab things, the 1st being the Halfling with their Bare Hands, the 3rd being the Ballooner with their Hand Glue, and the 4th being Cactus with their Glove.
- It had two battle axes in a video made before the game’s release.
- It used to not have a shoulder pad (pauldron) in the beginning of the Early Access.
- Although rare, a Minotaur can headbutt a unit through the floor.
- The Minotaur's Headbutt can also activate when their health is affected: for example, the Healers will make them charge immediately if they heal it.
- It seems that its horns can cause collision damage.
- Be careful when facing this Unit off against Taekwondo, as not only can the Minotaur miss its target, but the Taekwondo can take advantage of this, and proceed to kick them to death, or it could simply one-shot the Bull with a kick.
