Dragon
The Dragon is an artillery unit from the Dynasty faction. They are equipped with flamethrowers. |
Characteristics
The Dragon is a Chinese dragon on poles that can breath fire. The Dragon will automatically burn enemy units once in range, units that caught on fire will quickly burn to death and spread fire to nearby units. Friendly units may be burnt by the Dragon too. It is held by four Dragon Carriers that will kick enemy units that gets close, and will drop the dragon and begin punching and kicking once the Dragon itself is dead.
Appearance
The Dragon is a colored paper Chinese dragon on poles that has a flamethrower installed in its mouth. It is held by four Dragon Carriers with Chinese hair and clothes, also with sandals.

Usage
Despite costing 1000, the Dragon can be a great Siege unit to deal with crowds. While it's range is rather short and movement is even slower, it can decimate anything in its distance, unless it's a super or special Unit (like a Mammoth or Minotaur). The Dragon itself can be also killed by ranged units, leaving you only with four weak Dragon Carrier-like units that won't get the job done most of the time. While the Units will kick anyone who gets near them even while still holding the Dragon, they will typically die to most enemies.
That means that for Dragon to be effective, it has to be behind some units to be protected and it should only go up against melee units. However, the Dragon will cause friendly fire to any friendly units in front of it. Use units that you can afford to lose in order to hold the enemy in place, or else deploy the Dragon to a position where it cannot be flanked. Beware that the Dragon cannot turn very well and will become useless if any enemy unit gets around or past the Dragon's flames.
Unit Possession
The dragon itself cannot be possessed, but any of the four carriers can be. The flames are automatically activated whenever an enemy unit is within range, and the dragon will automatically go forward even if the unit you possess isn't walking forward, so at best the Dragon can only be steered. Any of the carriers can kick any nearby units, as this is the only controllable attack input.
Trivia
- In a pre-release footage, the Dragon shot out fireworks in addition to breathing fire.
- Dragon is categorized as a unit, which is why it can get killed by other units like Archers or Ballista.
- Before 0.8.5, the lead Dragon carrier could only punch/slap, while the others had the ability to also kick their enemies.
- If the Dragon gets hit by a Ullr projectile it will freeze and glitch violently by stretching far out.
- Just like the Skeleton Archer and Wheelbarrow Dragon, whatever it touches with the flames will catch on fire, and the fire will spread if the Units are too bunched up.
