Chariot
The Chariot is a cavalry unit from the Legacy faction. They are equipped with the Gladius and the Centurion Shield. |
Characteristics
The Chariot is a unit added to TABS during the Pre-Alpha stage of development, but returned to TABS in the Legacy Update in Early Access.
Location
To unlock, go to the Legacy Map and head to the Red camp. Near the edge of the camp is an empty chariot. Stare at it until it glows and shakes to unlock the unit. |
Appearance
The Chariot is driven by what seems to be a Centurion armed with a gladius, or Roman cavalry sword, a Centurion Shield, and wearing a plumed helmet. It was originally propelled by a stiff wooden-looking horse that would fall apart upon defeat in the Pre-Alpha, but is replaced by a proper horse in the full release. The chariot itself has blades on its wheels. In the Open Alpha, it was redesigned to look like Santa's sleigh because Christmas was near during that time.
Unit Voice
Usage
It can be useful against big groups of weak enemies like Peasants but is ineffective and dies quickly against Sarissas or Pikes, as the horse is unarmored. The chariot works best against enemies that are slower and lack range, disrupting large formations with its charge and side-swiping with the wheel blades. Placing it to the side of your army sometimes helps. They are very useful for disrupting enemy lines and distracting units.
Behavior
Chariots will run around the map, crashing and damaging enemies by mauling them or running them over. They tend to crash into the terrain and die. They can also die from large groups of enemies.
Trivia
- It is possible for the rider to fall off the chariot if the horse flips the chariot over.
- In the Open and Closed Alpha, the Chariot was Santa's Sleigh for Christmas Time. The Christmas pattern on the sleighs were still present, even after the Season.

- In the Pre-Alpha, if a Chariot runs over another Chariot, the Chariot that is being run over will glitch like crazy.
- Originally, the entire unit would die if the horse was killed, but in the current version of TABS, horses and riders are separate entities. This allows the unit to continue fighting even after the chariot crashes, making it last longer than its original incarnation.
- Because of the blades on its wheels, it often get's stuck on objects.
- The horse is very difficult to stop after being freed from the chariot.
- The horse's skin is quite unique unlike all of the other horses in the game.
- The Chariot Previously cost 1850.
- Originally the shield was a low-quality version of the shield from the Shield Bearer.
- Apparently, if you destroy the chariot while the horse is still attached, the horse will die as well.
- Historically, Chariots were used for both racing and war.
- The Chariot's spiked wheels can injure and kill enemies as well as friends.
