Ballooner
The Ballooner is a Secret melee unit from the Renaissance faction. They are equipped with Ballooner Grabs and the Balloon Backpack. |
Location
The Ballooner is found floating high in the sky at the Renaissance map. Get close and look at it until it pops to unlock the unit. |
Characteristics
The Ballooner is a kamikaze unit that will use their Ballooner Grabs to glue onto units and lift them up into the sky with their Balloon Backpack. Glued units without attack abilities like a kick will be unable to counter-attack and will float as long as they are lightweight, until the balloon detaches from the backpack where both units ignite to the ground.
Unlike their victim, the Ballooner is immune to fall damage and may turn into a giant fireball when descending. They will continue to attack after landing, but will be unable to lift units again as their Balloon Backpack is one-use only.
Appearance
The Ballooner wears leather garments and goggles, carrying a backpack with a mini hot air balloon attached to it. It also has arms covered with "glue" to catch enemies. Before that, they used to have different colored pant-legs, rather than its pantaloons.

Usage
The Ballooner is best used to take out normal-sized enemies, by grabbing them and then dropping them to their deaths. The Ballooner takes no fall damage after dropping, and they are invulnerable to attacks while lifting an enemy. Compared to the Balloon Archer, the Ballooner is a cheaper alternative, although they have to get close to the enemy, and their balloon is single use only. Once they return to the ground, they can only do a weak punch attack that can disable their target's attacks (Except for abilities) as long as they keep grabbing. They are somewhat effective against heavy targets when in large groups, and they can carry a horse into the air with at least 10 or more of them. As of the Unit Creator beta, when it and the unit are falling there is a 15-20% chance the former will do a meteor ability, in which the Ballooner will burst in flames and when it comes in contact with the ground, and then it will explode. Moreover, its new disabling ability can be very useful against a lot of Units, and can now be used as a sort of distraction. So, in short, combined with its meteor ability and disabling, the Ballooner, if used correctly, can be an extremely versatile unit for your army.
Encounters
This unit is encountered in the Renaissance (Campaign) and the Wild West (Campaign). |
